Job Description

The Bookkeeper position is responsible for assisting the Senior Business Manager in drafting and maintaining financial transactions and reporting, including but not limited to, recording accounts receivable transactions, accounts payables transactions, supporting tax reporting efforts, and maintaining financial statements. The Bookkeeper must be able to demonstrate knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations, policies, and procedures that apply to accounting and financial duties and responsibilities. The duties are varied in nature ranging from assisting the Senior Business Manager on financial reporting and gathering data for draft budgets and guiding budget compliance, assisting with other business entities' financial reporting, monthly invoicing, data entry accuracy, managing, and tracking certificate of liability insurance, and contract insurance compliance with contracts, along with varied administrative duties.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience with a wide range of bookkeeping functions, including A/R, A/P, data entry and preparation of financial statements, and general ledger entries. The bookkeeper must be an organized multitasker that has great attention to detail and demonstrates excellent organizational skills.

Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the Senior Business Manager.
Supervision Exercised: No direct supervision of subordinates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support the quarterly and yearly tax reporting, draft quarterly new hire reports, and payroll.
  • Process accounts receivable, from recording payments from clients, drafting deposits, drafting deposit statements, and check detail statements.
  • Process accounts payable, code, and enter vendor expense invoices
  • Assist with drafting monthly invoices, pay summary sheets, and any supporting documentation.
  • Complete data entry for journal entries and company liabilities.
  • Assist with additional business entities' financial management from entering accounts receivable and accounts payable to preparing reconciliations and financial statements.
  • Assist in coordinating with vendors as needed to ensure proper record keeping and 1099 drafting.
  • Perform monthly accounting closeout and keep general ledger updated along with financial statements and all supporting documents.
  • Prepare basic reports, track business expenses, and assist in maintaining office budgets.
  • Process expense reports, audit expense reports and ensure accuracy to GL accounts, and ensure detailed transactions are recorded for proper record keeping
  • Assist with maintaining cash flow statements; trial balances, and budgets
  • Data entry of all contracts, amendments, and change orders in the accounting system, from setting up new clients, to entering scopes and designated resource allocations and ensuring all certificates of insurance compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Considerable knowledge of bookkeeping experience related to business administration.
  • Strong aptitude for arithmetic and reporting accuracy.
  • Ability to be detail oriented with problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow and maintain accounting procedures.
  • Proficiency with data entry, organization, and record-keeping.
  • Ability to use data analysis techniques and understand research methods.
  • General knowledge of Contract Insurance and Certificates of Liability Insurance.
  • Considerable knowledge of GAAP and other accounting and finance regulations.
  • Verifiable proficiency in MS Office suite especially with Excel
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Business and familiarity with Deltek Ajera.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, vendors, clients, and the public.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting or Finance or a combination of relative education and experience required.

Special Licensing or Certification:
Willingness to obtain a Colorado Notary Public license.

Experience:
Minimum 2 years of increasingly responsible experience in bookkeeping.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common interoffice procedures. Ability to communicate with coworkers, clients, and the public; and ability to respond to common inquiries from clients (internal and external), regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively participate and communicate with vendors and people in the trades and industries in which Ditesco participates. Ability to effectively present information to management and supervisor.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts necessary to perform basic financial reports including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of administrative instructions to resolve administrative matters including but not limited to software and technology used within the office.

This job can be performed remotely or at the main office location or a combination of both at the discretion of the company.

Travel Requirements
Travel for this position is limited to conferences and training that the company may support.

Wage: $18-$25 per hour Depending on Experience
